Lift began by recognizing that there had to be a better way.
While working as a freelance remote executive assistant during the COVID-19 pandemic, Katie Santoro saw business owners struggling to manage everything on their own. They needed more than someone to complete a list of tasks. They needed experienced professionals who could understand their businesses, take ownership of the work, and become a dependable part of the team.
Katie also recognized an opportunity to create meaningful, flexible work for skilled professionals, including parents and caregivers whose experience and abilities were not always reflected in traditional employment options. She founded River City Virtual Assistants in 2020 to create better working relationships on both sides.
Meagan Martin joined the company, bringing extensive experience in legal assistance, executive support, project management, and community resources. Together, Katie and Meagan expanded the team, strengthened Lift’s training and support model, and helped the company grow beyond traditional virtual assistance.
The company became Lift Business Resources, a name that better reflects the breadth of its services and its purpose: connecting businesses with the right people, resources, and support to move forward.

Meet the Lift Team
Lift’s leadership team brings experience in business operations, executive support, legal services, project management, and client relationships. Together, they support Lift’s clients and professionals throughout every stage of the relationship.
Katie is a creative problem solver who believes the way things have always been done is not necessarily the best way forward.
She founded Lift Business Resources, formerly River City Virtual Assistants, after seeing firsthand how difficult it was for business owners to find experienced, reliable administrative support. Her work as a freelance remote executive assistant also showed her the value of creating flexible professional opportunities for parents and caregivers.
Katie’s earlier career in the legal and insurance industries helped shape Lift’s approach to administrative support, project management, training, and mentorship. Today, she leads the company’s vision and remains committed to creating working relationships that help both clients and Lift professionals succeed.
Outside of work, Katie enjoys reading anything business-related, walking her two Bernedoodles, caring for her collection of more than 70 houseplants, and spending time with her husband.
Meagan joined Lift in 2022 with approximately 15 years of experience in support-focused roles, including 11 years as a paralegal and executive-level assistant and three years in the nonprofit and community-resources sector.
Her experience in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments gives her a practical understanding of what clients need from dependable support. As COO, Meagan helps keep Lift’s operations organized, guides its team, and creates the structure needed for strong client relationships.
Her work in community resources also shaped her commitment to building a genuinely supportive environment for the professionals who represent Lift.
When she is not helping clients and team members reach their goals, Meagan can usually be found running, enjoying a cup of coffee, listening to a true-crime podcast, or getting lost in a library book.
Kassie is a warm and thoughtful leader who believes strong working relationships are built through clear communication, trust, and genuine support. As Lift Business Resources’ Client Partnership & Support Lead, she helps clients and assistants navigate communication, delegation, workflows, and the day-to-day needs of a successful partnership.
Since joining Lift in 2022, Kassie has served as both an Executive Assistant and Lead Mentor, giving her a well-rounded understanding of the challenges clients and assistants may face. Before joining Lift, she worked as an elementary school teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master of Education from George Mason University.
Outside of work, Kassie enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, exercising, photography, and jewelry-making.
